Employer Accreditation
Employers can get accreditation to use the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) to hire migrants on visas for up to 3 years. You must pay at least the NZ median wage, unless the role is on an exemption list, and show that you cannot find suitable New Zealanders first.
Why we ask you to be accredited and do a job check
Accreditation and the job check ensure you hire New Zealander workers first before you consider visa holders and, if you do hire someone on a visa, you are a viable business with good practices.
Before you can invite a worker to apply for an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) you must apply to us for employer accreditation, advertise the role if you need to, and apply for a Job Check.
How to apply for AEWV employer accreditation
Before you apply online for accreditation to hire workers on an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV), gather information about your business and check that you can fulfil AEWV commitments.
After you are accredited to employ workers on an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV), gather information about the roles you want to fill and apply online for a Job Check.
Legal compliance for AEWV accreditation
To get and keep accreditation for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV), you and key people in your business must comply with immigration and employment law. There are penalties for non-compliance.
Employer requirements to help settle AEWV employees in New Zealand
Giving your employees information about working and living in New Zealand is a requirement of being an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) accredited employer.
